Actress and filmmaker Angelina Jolie sells the painting that Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister during World War II, painted after the Casablanca Conference in 1943.
Churchill donated the artwork to his colleague and former president of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The painting will be auctioned next month and is believed to be worth £ 1.5 to £ 2.5 million.
The London auction house Christie’s will sell a unique painting to the highest bidder next month. It is “Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque”, a work of the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who led the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955.
Churchill was not only a British war hero but also a passionate amateur painter. He made about 500 paintings after starting the hobby in his 40s. Although the “Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque” is the only work Churchill completed during the Second World War.
