The Spanish Balearic Islands have reported 795 corona infections in the past 24 hours. That is 115 more than a day earlier, and the authorities told the Spanish news agency Europa Press.
Most of the new infections have been detected in Mallorca.
The health authorities reported that between 20 and 40 new infections were registered daily on the island group about three weeks ago. Now there are hundreds of them every day.
As in the rest of Spain, mainly young people in the Balearic Islands become infected with the coronavirus. However, they often have mild symptoms. In total, there are 26 people in intensive care in the Balearic Islands.
Travel organization TUI announced that it would not fly to the Balearics and the Canary Islands until 13 August. The tour operator does not expect that the travel advice will be yellow again within this period.
