After a Christmas party among employees of a Spanish hospital, 68 of them tested positive for corona. This includes doctors and nurses.

It is still being investigated whether all infections happened at the party, a spokesman for the university hospital of Malaga said on Tuesday. It is not known whether there were any unvaccinated among those present, but all are said to have tested negative with an antigen test before the party.

More than 170 hospital staff took part in the party. It is now being investigated whether the employees who tested positive may have been infected shortly before or after the test. The regional newspaper Diario Sur points out that several of them attended other large gatherings for work.

None of them shows COVID-19 symptoms. They are now in a ten-day quarantine. Several of them work in the hospital’s intensive care unit, but no major problems have arisen so far due to the staff cut-off.
