The European Commission has asked the 27 EU member states to give it the mandate to negotiate road transport agreements with Ukraine and Moldova.

Now that access to the ports on the Black Sea has been closed for weeks due to the war in Ukraine, the daily EU administration is looking for ways to facilitate imports and exports to and from the two countries and ensure a safe supply of food in a particular set.

Therefore, the committee wants to temporarily partially open road transport in the EU to carriers from Ukraine and Moldova.

She asks the member states for more flexibility around the rules for the two countries, such as recognising the driver’s licenses of truck drivers from Ukraine and Moldova. European Commissioner for Transport Adina V─âlean: “This proposal will bring immediate economic relief to the two countries.”
