In Switzerland, a skier was rescued from a glacier stream in the nick of time, Air Zermatt reported on Wednesday.

An Italian had broken through the snow roof on the Furgg Glacier off-piste. He was dragged several meters down by the glacial flow.

When emergency services arrived, and a rescue worker was dropped by helicopter, the man was rescued in the darkness.

The skier was no longer approachable at that time. He was taken to the hospital with a body temperature of 26 degrees. Meanwhile, the man is doing well.
